# Roles & Permissions Matrix

Projectfusion provides **6 distinct user roles to manage document access and permissions** across your sites. 

Each role is designed with specific capabilities to match different user needs—from view-only access to full administrative control.


## 📘 Key Notes on Permissions
* All user roles **only have access to sites they are assigned to**.
* For example, if a user is Manager on Site A, they **cannot see** Site B unless explicitly granted access.
* **Permissions are site-specific.** Each role operates independently within each site.

## 🌐 Special Role: ADMINISTRATOR
* The **Administrator** is a global role across the entire Projectfusion environment.
* Admins can: Access all sites and documents.
* View and manage users.
* Access deleted items via the trashcan.
* Modify any settings system-wide.

### ⚠️ Security Tip:
* We **strongly recommend enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)** for all Managers and Administrators.
* You can **remove Projectfusion support access** by editing the built-in `administrator` user and changing its password.
* *Warning:* Doing so will restrict our ability to offer support.
* If you forget your own admin credentials after doing this, **regaining access may be difficult**.

*** For Consumer , Consumer ViewOnly & PDFPrint roles, Activity is only anonymised if the site is non-social.
  Make sure the site is **Private and Social is turned off ( This can be done from the ' Edit site details ' page )**

| **Contributor** | Upload documents, edit/delete files uploaded by themselves, and download files. | Named activity |
| **Collaborator** | Edit documents across the site and download files. ***Only if the user owns the files/folders can they delete them.*** | Named activity |
| **Manager** | Full access to files and folders. Manage user access, custom reports, and site settings. | Named activity |
| **Online Editor** | Edit documents in the Secure Online Editor **without downloading**. Can create files/folders, view all members, and see full site activity. | Named activity |
