How to Update a safedrop

Yes, you can edit a safedrop after it's been sent. This is useful if you forgot a file, uploaded the wrong version, or need to remove sensitive info.

šŸ” Step 1: Go to ā€œTrack safedropsā€

  • Log in to safedrop.
  • From the top menu, click ā€œTrack safedropsā€ to view your sent safedrops.

šŸ“ Step 2: Open the safedrop folder

  • Find the safedrop you want to change.
  • Click the šŸ“‚ folder icon next to it. This opens the drop’s storage area, like a secure mini file room.

🧹 Step 3: Remove existing files (if needed)

  • Hover over any file to see the trash icon.
  • Click it to delete files you no longer want included.

āž• Step 4: Add new files or folders

  • Drag and drop files directly into the folder area, or
  • Click the + icon to browse and upload.

You can add:

  • New documents
  • Images
  • Entire folders (if enabled on your plan)

Note: Recipients won’t get a new email alert for file changes — if the safedrop has already been sent, it’s best to notify them manually.

šŸ” Step 5: Verify updates

  • Reopen the safedrop preview or audit log to confirm your changes.
  • Everything added is instantly available to recipients (based on the safedrop's access settings).

🧠 Pro Tips

  • If you change your mind about deleting a file, you'll need to re-upload it — there’s no undo.
  • You can also expire the safedrop manually and send a fresh one if you'd rather reset the whole drop.

šŸ”’ Security Note

The audit trail will reflect all file activity:

  • File added or removed
  • Timestamp of action
  • Who performed the action

This keeps everything compliant and transparent.
